While most autoresponders try to get marketers to send as many emails as possible (because it increases how much they have to spend), ActiveCampaign is trying to get customers to send fewer emails while helping them achieve better results at the same time.
They offer a ton of features and quite a few integrations, as well as an amazing support team, but their focus on automation is what really makes them stand out from the crowd. They’re almost in a different league than some of their competitors – you’ll understand why I say that.
Most autoresponders provide you with some degree of automation, but ActiveCampaign takes it a step further by allowing you to manage your contacts and list management automatically. In fact, they’ve even gone as far as building their own CRM into the backend.
Their CRM allows you to do a variety of tasks such as adding notes to a subscriber’s profile page, setting up appointments, or simply sending direct messages to specific subscribers. In fact, you can even send targeted messages directly to your website visitors using their “site messages” feature.
With that being said, I will warn you that their dashboard can be a bit overwhelming at first. It only appears complicated – don’t worry, I promise that you’ll be able to get the hang of it quickly.
Why Do I Recommend ActiveCampaign?
I’d say that ActiveCampaign is the most powerful email marketing tool I’ve ever used. If you can think of it, their system can most likely automate it. You can have generate dynamic email content, automate the segmentation process, send sales followups and trigger campaigns.
Their built-in CRM allows you to seamlessly integrate all of your marketing data, which gives you the ability to act quickly. Everything from their lead scoring to the social data they gather can help you accelerate your automation and increase your sales.
Like I mentioned before, ActiveCampaign does a lot more than just sending emails. If you want to centralize most of your marketing efforts, it could be the perfect solution for you.
If you think that ActiveCampaign may be a good fit for you, I’d suggest signing up for their 14-day free trial. They don’t even require a credit card for you to signup – just create an account and see if they offer what you’re looking for. It literally takes less than a minute.
Editor – The editor is extremely fast (that’s important and save a lot of time) and comes with some features not offered by other email marketing tools. I probably wouldn’t rate it as the best editor I’ve used, but it certainly gets the job done.
Logic – They allow you to setup conditional content to show different content to different subscribers based upon various things such as their interests, the links they’ve clicked on, and so on.
Email Types – You can send generic newsletters, text messages, setup autoresponders, perform A/B testing, trigger emails from RSS feeds and schedule date-based emails.
Template Designs – ActiveCampaign has a ton of templates for you to choose from and they are all responsive. You can easily preview the templates to make sure your emails will look exactly how you want. You can also use the editor to add new features and blocks to your templates.
List Management – I think their system is probably the best I’ve ever seen at managing contacts and adding a great degree of automation in the process. This can be a huge time saver for users with a lot of subscribers or ones that really need to be able to segment lists and target who emails are sent to.
Deliverability – ActiveCampaign is second to none when it comes to getting emails into the inbox. Seriously, they got more emails into the inbox than any other email service I’ve tested. In fact, they even got more in than Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL.
Reports – If you’ve ever used an autoresponder that offers reporting tools (such as geotracking, open rates, etc), then you’ll love ActiveCampaign. If there’s something you’re looking for a report on or need to track, they most likely have a solution for you.
Languages – English, Spanish, French, Russian, German, Czech, Dutch, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Slovenian, Danish, Finnish, Simplified Chinese, Turkish, Vietnamese
Spam-Testing – As with many email marketing tools, you’ll have the option to perform spam tests on your email. This will give you a general idea about if it’s going to make it into someone’s inbox (based upon your email’s content).
Blacklist – You can blacklist subscribers to prevent them from receiving communication. You’ll also have an option to both import and export your blacklist.
Storage – You’re provided with unlimited storage for images. However, images over 1000px will automatically be downsized.
Access Levels – You can create groups and give them different levels of access. You get to choose each feature they’re allowed to access so you’re always in full control.
Support – The support team is absolutely amazing. And this is a huge deal for new users. You’re most likely going to have questions, but you don’t need to worry about that. Their team is available 24/7 to help you.
Features are a big deal with most software I review. However, ActiveCampaign is an exception. It’s pretty rare for them to not offer a feature that’s currently being offered by one of their competitors. If they don’t have it, I doubt anyone else does.
It’s not easy to find problems with ActiveCampaign. They simply offer everything you’d ever look for in an email marketing tool. And let’s not forget about their reporting options – you can track almost anything. Some autoresponders don’t even offering reporting.
Although it may take a bit of time to get used to using their system, you have nothing to worry about. Their support team is absolutely amazing. You can get in touch with them at any time through email and chat. Or if you prefer, you can just use their extensive knowledge base.
If you’re looking for a way to automate your email marketing efforts, ActiveCampaign is a great choice. While they certainly aren’t the cheapest option, they have way more features than many of their competitors. In my opinion, they’re definitely worth it.
I highly recommend that you at least give ActiveCampaign a try. They offer a 14-day free trial. You don’t even have to enter your credit card information. If you’re not happy or it’s not what you’re looking for, just don’t renew your account. It’s as simple as that.
